It seems like a big number, 30, but I still remember the first time I saw her in a catechism class of all places. I remember offering her a ride home, and after a number of rides, the first kiss. My long-term memory is not that good, but, I remember those things as if they were just a year ago maybe, not more than 30.
We have been blessed. J is my best friend. We have been blessed with 3 great kids who are out in the world following their dreams. We share many interests which means we do lots of things together, another blessing. We share lots of conversation. We truly share our lives with each other.
We are celebrating the milestone quietly. Today we biked with some friends to Holyrood for ice cream. Tomorrow maybe a steak for supper.
In the Banner (our church’s monthly publication) there is an obituary for a fellow who happens to share my last name but is not related. He died at 90 years of age and had been married for 73 years. We still have a way to go, and if the next 30 years is as good as the first, it’s going to be great.
