Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Psalm 106:1

Yesterday was Thanksgiving.  We celebrated quietly enough, but it was a good day.

It began with our house seemingly full of kids.  My brother and his family spent the night with us, went to church, and came back for lunch.  It was cool having the sound of young voices fill our space.  They are good kids and fun to have around.

Our own kids, all grown up now, aren’t around much.  They live their own lives in far away places.  Our youngest lives closer to home, but also has a busy life.

At Thanksgiving time we are reminded to look at our lives and realize how fortunate we are.

We could be sad about the distance between us and our kids.  I am thankful  they are finding success in the things  they put their hands to.

We have much to be thankful for.  Both of us are healthy,  we have a great place to live, we have good friends, we have a very supportive church family.  We live comfortably.  We have choices.  We may be able to complain about the demands of my job or the financial viability of J’s business, but even in those things, we are very blessed.

It’s good to have Thanksgiving.

Last evening, we shared Thanksgiving Dinner.  Just the two of us.  It was good (pretty small turkey though).

  1. At least you won’t be eating leftovers for the next week :o)!

Thank you for having us! It was nice to get together again and visit without time constraints.
